Facebook post breaks comments world record

ON JAN 31 Facebook fans of the online game Frontierville, from makers of the CityVille game Zynga, broke a Guinness World Record for the most comments on a single post.

In total the post made on Oct 30, 2011 by UK-based user Tracy Hodgson on the specially created page Ffgpioneers/gwr/attempt, open to fans of the game, had attracted 1,001,552 comments by Jan 31, making it the first-ever post to attract more than one million comments.

The 1,001,552 comments on Tracy's post were made by a total of 107 Frontierville fans and the tally almost doubles the previous record for comments on a post, which was set by Italy's Robert Esposito in 2011.

Speaking to Guinnessworldrecords.com, record breaker Tracy stated "My friend Nattie Murphy saw the previous record and suggested I try to break it - it sounded like a great idea for our group (a Frontierville community group) to show what we are capable of when we work together."

Faceboook is estimated to have around 800 million users and is expected to go public, preparing an IPO that is expected to raise around US$5 to US$10bil (RM15 to RM30bil), according to the New York Times. - Relaxnews 2012
