Honor can be bought

The first batch sports the Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) operating system but it can be upgraded to the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) once Google releases the update in the second quarter.

The upcoming update will be loaded with additional features such as folders for the homescreen, resizable widgets, improved text input and spell checking, unified calendar, visual voicemail, and Near Field Communications-based sharing.

But for now let's check out what the Honor has to offer in the hardware department. The smartphone has a 4in FWVGA (854 x 480-pixels) touchscreen display with 16:9 aspect ratio.

Powered by a 1.4GHz processor, the device has an 8-megapixel autofocus camera with HD recording capability and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls, 512MB RAM and 4GB storage. There's also a microSD slot which accepts card sizes of up to 32GB.

The smartphone also features Huawei's custom interface which has a dynamic weather widget.

The Honor can also share content such as photos, music and videos with digital cameras, game consoles and TVs that are DLNA certified.

It retails for RM1,099.
