Cities and seasons in Assassin's Creed III

A new preview for Assassin's Creed III confirms revolutionary-era Boston and New York as locations, as well as historical battlegrounds and America's north-eastern frontier - and all are affected by the passing of the seasons.

According to Game Informer's preview, visiting an area in summer or winter means that players, bystanders, and enemies will end up altering their usual behaviours as a result of snowdrifts and frozen waters.

Benjamin Franklin joins George Washington in the game, not as an inventor but in his capacity as a fellow Founding Father in the making.

Military man and potential national leader Charles Lee joins the cast of characters, but it's not yet clear whether he will be portrayed as 18th century America's hidden hero or two-faced villain.

Assassin's Creed III comes out at the end of October, a few weeks after BioShock Infinite's alternative view of 20th century American prosperity. - Relaxnews 2012
