Big Clouds for Dell
Posted On Jan 15, 2012 at , 3:14 PM by SyahrizalDell has come a long way since it first started with a sales office in Malaysia. With operations spanning over 16 years, the business has certainly grown in ways not many could have imagined.
Making full use of its experience here, Dell realised early on that Malaysia´s ICT industry is not one to follow trends. Rather, those within prefer to trailblaze a new path that inspire others to join the cause of driving innovation forward.
With this depth of understanding, Dell took note of the changing trends the ICT industry and quickly adopted what it believed was the current trends for 2011, to be part of its 2012 agenda as they felt a spill-over would occur.
Based on the paradigm shifts the industry is experiencing, especially in light of higher adoption rates for services on the Cloud, Dell felt that many organisations are making this new inclusive platform their number one technology priority.
"With the way businesses of varying sizes are quickly adopting the Cloud platform, it is clear that the primary focus for these companies is now on Cloud services. In fact, I expect the take up for this fast growing innovation to be adopted quickly, especially in the private sector.
"While there are major progresses for the public Cloud as well, it is clear that the speed of adoption will be higher for the non-government entities," said Pang Yee Beng, Executive Director, Advanced Systems Group, APJ CSMB, Dell.
His views are a reflection of current market trends that are now taking place thanks to many customers who are considering a move towards Cloud Computing as their solution to speed up business return on investments, improve operation efficiencies and enhance operational flexibility.
Besides the rising interest in Cloud services, many experts in Dell also took note of the changing needs of consumers in how they interact with ICT.
Known as ICT consumerisation, it defines a generation of users that now demand for security compliance, device independence, true seamless connectivity, and re-defined user experience.
"Understanding the ever changing needs of users that constant and consistent innovation has brought about, we at Dell are completely focused on new technologies that delve into these solutions- and services-based areas. This includes the Cloud, storage, servers, virtualisation, mobility, and seamless interactivity. All of them are deemed primary developments in this industry," added Pang.
The aim of Dell for 2012 is to bring a new level of efficiency of services that provide open, capable, and affordable solutions, services, and products to the general consumer.
The emphasis, naturally, will be about providing an open platform, which means having systems that will not lock customers into expensive and cumbersome proprietary bundles.
In doing so, Dell hopes to make the ICT industry even more accessible for all in time to come.
