THE Name Technology Sdn Bhd has released the first Dewan Eja Pro 2012 Bahasa Malaysia proofing tools for OpenOffice and Adobe InDesign/InCopy into the market. The latter is available in both PC and Mac platforms.

The software offers a complete integration with OpenOffice versions 3.0.1, 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3. It also works wilth all InDesign and InCopy versions up to CS5.5.

Additionally, the Adobe version also has the "first" Hyphenator for Malay feature, which automatically hyphenates words based on Bahasa Malaysia linguistic rules, not English.

Dewan Eja Pro's updated spell checker is powered by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka's Kamus Dewan Edisi Keempat and Kamus Inggeris Melayu Dewan, which underlines spelling mistakes for easy spotting. Its grammar checker is able to identify more than 40 types of common grammatical mistakes, the company said.

Users can check for words instantly simply by hovering the mouse cursor over them in any Windows applications. There is no need to click, type or copy and paste at all, the company added.

The software also offers a "Fractional Analysis" feature, which is specially tailored for Bahasa Malaysia, providing accurate suggestions with prefixes and suffixes ("imbuhan"), as well as verbs in passive form.

Other notable features include an updated Malay-Chinese Dictionary which contains more than 30,000 entries; cross-reference between English and Bahasa Malaysia terms in various fields, including science and mathematics with over 267,000 entries; 28,000 entries of Bahasa Malaysia idioms and proverbs that fully cover the classical, modern and verbal usages of the language; and the integration of Microsoft Speech that provides pronunciation of English and Chinese words.

Both Dewan Eja Pro 2012 for OpenOffice and Dewan Eja Pro 2012 for Adobe InDesign/InCopy are priced at RM280 each. The Adobe InDesign/InCopy for Mac costs RM200.
