Photosharing app Instagram coming to Android devices

Popular iOS photo sharing and retro-filter photo app Instagram will soon be available on Android devices.

Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom announced that the app had tallied up a total of 27 million users to date - close to double the 15 million users it had in Dec 2011 - during a keynote at SXSW on last week.

He revealed that Instagram would be available on devices running Google's Android operating system "very soon" and said that "in some ways, it's better than our iPhone app."

Instagram has been a hit with users but until now it has only been available on Apple's iOS platform.

Like Path, Mobli and Hipstamatic, Instagram enables users to apply retro filters to the images they have captured on their mobile device before uploading and sharing them on their social networks. - Relaxnews 2012
