DiGi aims for bigger, better WWWOW this year
Posted On Apr 8, 2012 at , 4:14 PM by SyahrizalSHAH ALAM: The DiGi WWWOW Internet For All Awards returns for a second year with new categories and bigger prizes.
The theme for this year is "Inspire," and the awards seek to recognise the country's top talents in social media, digital content and web commerce.
"These days, we can safely say there are few areas of Malaysian life that the Internet has not touched in some way," said Sulin Lau, head of marketing services for DiGi.
"We hope the DiGi WWWOW Internet for All Awards 2012 can truly represent digital ingenuity and creativity of Malaysians from all walks of life."
The event sets out to achieve two goals this year - firstly to expand WWWOW categories to reflect the diversity of online innovation, and secondly, DiGi wants the awards to harness the power of innovation in one area to inspire ideas in another.
The inaugural awards last year saw more than 230,000 votes cast for nearly 6,000 websites, blogs, shops, videos, innovators and personalities.
This year, new categories include Mobile Short Film, App of the Year and Webpreneur of the Year, while prizes include flight tickets, smart devices, pre-loaded debit cards and more. They are worth more than RM200,000 in total.
Submission of entries is open until April 22. Public voting will take place from April 23 to May 13, and the winners of all 16 categories will be unveiled in June.
